Thirty is the New Twenty!

30isthenew20How many women out there are like me? You are career oriented but want a family too?! ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

Women of today want it all – and we’re willing to work for it! ๐Ÿ‘ โš’

But, when it comes to having a family – our ovaries are in charge.

Women are born with all the eggs we will ever have (unlike men who make new sperm daily). We are born with 1,000,000 eggs and by the time we go through menopause we have don’t have any viable (‘good’ or ‘normal’) eggs in the ovaries.ย

Each woman has her own reproductive lifespan. While some women can have kids until early 40s, others run out of eggs in their late 20s and 30s (and some even earlier). It is rare for women to not be able to conceive in their 30s – but, if you are planning for more than one child, this could be an issue.ย

The GREAT news is – we have a way of measuring how many eggs you have left! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

If you are over the age of 30 and want children, but aren’t quite ready – get an AMH (Antimullerian Hormone) to check your ovarian reserve. This approximates the number of eggs in your ovaries and can help you decide if you need to plan for a family sooner rather than later! ๐Ÿ‘ถ

I would love to know how many people have been told about the AMH blood test by their primary care doctor or OB/Gyn – have you heard of thistest?ย #30isthenew20
